The Cow with the Crooked Horn

In a chief's herd, there was a cow whose horn had grown crooked, pointing down instead of up. It was considered ugly, and the other herders said the chief should trade it away. But the chief refused. "Every cow in my herd has a purpose," he said. One day, a Leopard, hidden in a thick bush, tried to ambush a young calf. The mother cow charged the Leopard, but in the thicket, her wide, symmetrical horns became tangled in the branches. The Leopard was about to strike the calf when the "ugly" cow with the crooked horn charged in. Because its horn pointed downwards, it did not get tangled. It was able to get under the bush and gore the Leopard, driving it away and saving the calf. The chief gathered his people and said, "You saw this cow as flawed. But today, its unique flaw became its greatest strength and the salvation of the herd. Never judge a creature by its appearance, for the creator, Mukuru, has a purpose for every shape he makes."
