The Elephant and the Tortoise's Race
The Elephant was boasting about his speed and mocked the Tortoise for being the slowest of all creatures. The Tortoise, tired of the insults, challenged the Elephant to a race to a distant baobab tree. The Elephant laughed but accepted. The Tortoise, however, had a clever plan. He gathered his entire family—his brothers, cousins, and uncles, who all looked exactly like him—and placed them at intervals along the race path, hidden in the tall grass. The race began, and the Elephant charged ahead, quickly leaving the Tortoise behind. After some time, the Elephant, wanting to mock his opponent, called out, "Where are you, slow one?" To his shock, a voice from just ahead replied, "I am here, in front of you!" It was, of course, the Tortoise's cousin, but the Elephant didn't know that. He ran faster, but every time he called out, a Tortoise would answer from ahead of him. The Elephant ran until he was completely exhausted and collapsed. The final Tortoise (the original one's uncle) waddled past the finish line, winning the race and humiliating the arrogant Elephant.
