The Hare and the Crocodile's Back-Bridge

The Hare wanted to cross a wide river, but it was infested with Crocodiles. He went to the king of the Crocodiles and said, "Great King, the chief on the other side of the river wants to give you a great feast, but he doesn't know how many of you there are. He sent me to count you." The Crocodile king, full of pride, was flattered. "How will you count us?" he asked. "You must all line up, head to tail, across the river, so I can walk across your backs and count you one by one," the Hare instructed. The foolish Crocodile king ordered all his subjects to form a living bridge across the river. The Hare then hopped from one back to the next, shouting, "One, two, three..." When he reached the other side, he leaped onto the bank and called back, "And the total number is... one great fool and all his foolish relatives!" The Hare had used the Crocodile's pride and vanity to get exactly what he wanted.
