The Leopard and the Firefly's Light

A Leopard, king of the night hunters, was angry because a man had escaped him by following the light of a tiny Firefly. The Leopard caught the Firefly and was about to eat it. "Why did you help the man?" the Leopard growled. The Firefly replied, "I did not help the man. I am just a small creature, and this is my nature. I make a light. The man chose to follow it. Is it my fault that my light showed him the path away from your darkness?" The Leopard thought about this. He realized the Firefly did not act out of malice towards him, but simply existed as it was meant to. He also realized that the man was clever for using such a small light to find his way to safety. The Leopard let the Firefly go, having learned a lesson: do not blame the light for what it reveals, and do not underestimate an enemy who knows how to use even the smallest advantage.
