The Spider and the Ram's Shaved Head
Yiyi the Spider and the Ram were rivals. The King announced a contest: whoever could perform the most amazing feat would win a prize. The Ram went first. He galloped at a granite boulder and struck it so hard with his head that the boulder split in two. All the animals gasped. Then it was Yiyi's turn. Yiyi stood before the King and said, "My feat is even more amazing. I will shave the King's head with a shard of broken calabash and he will not bleed." The King was intrigued and agreed. Yiyi was so skilled and careful that he managed to shave the King's head perfectly without a single cut. The King was impressed, but said, "The Ram split a rock. You merely gave me a shave. The Ram is the winner." Yiyi replied, "Great King, ask the Ram to perform my feat." The Ram, full of pride and eager to prove his superiority, took the shard of calabash and tried to shave the King's head. But his hooves were clumsy, and he immediately gave the King a terrible cut. The Ram was disgraced and chased from the court. Yiyi was declared the winner, proving that a delicate, skillful, and risky act is often greater than a simple act of brute force.
