The Hare and the Crocodile's Children

The Hare needed to cross a river full of Crocodiles. He went to the mother Crocodile, who was guarding her nest of eggs, and began to weep. "Why are you crying?" asked the Crocodile. "I am crying," wailed the Hare, "because Nkai has shown me a terrible vision! A great flood is coming, and all the children who are in low places will be washed away. My burrow is on high ground, so my children are safe, but yours, here by the river, are doomed!" The mother Crocodile, terrified for her unborn children, begged the Hare for help. "Quickly," said the Hare, "you must move all your eggs to the high ground on the other side of the river!" The Crocodile, in a panic, carefully took all her eggs in her great mouth and ferried them across to the far bank. The Hare, of course, simply hopped across the now-safe river behind her. When she had moved the last egg, the Hare called out from the other side, "Thank you for the ride! And don't worry, the only flood will be the tears of a foolish crocodile!"
