The Gazelle and the Gift of Speed
When Nkai was giving out gifts to the animals, the Gazelle was last in line. All the best gifts were gone. The Lion had been given strength, the Elephant size, and the Leopard stealth. "What is left for me?" asked the Gazelenkai looked down and saw that all that was left in his bag was the wind. "I will give you the wind," Nkai said. He gave the wind to the Gazelle, and it entered its legs. Suddenly, the Gazelle could run faster than any other creature, leaping and bounding across the plains as if it were flying. The Lion, who had wanted to hunt the Gazelle, could no longer catch it. The story teaches that what seems like the last and least of the gifts can sometimes be the greatest. The Gazelle's speed, a gift made from the intangible wind, is its greatest treasure and its key to survival on the open plains.
